Isaac's baptism-Union of Philippine and British flags

When my hubby asked for a baby long before we got married, I was very hesitant to give him one because of many circumstances that might not permit us to do so.We were both working and I didn't think I was ready and besides' I really wanted to get married first before the baby.My hubby was so excited when I said YES not to his proposal but to finally have a baby. The first trial was very successful and Isaac was finally made in the beautiful island of Pandanan in Caramoan Peninsula, Camarines Sur.
My hubby thought of a civil wedding at a very early stage of our relationship but we only decided to get married when I was 6 months pregnant which maybe deviant from what should be, in terms of Filipino religious practices.

When the long wait was over, I gave birth last June 22, 2010 to our Brinoy baby ISAAC WILLIAM JOHNSON.What followed after that should be baptism but it took me six months to finally decide his baptism in the Philippines.I had several sleepless nights putting him to sleep and watching over him, so I used those nights to conceptualize his baptism.I told myself that I really wanted it unique and should cater both to our young and adult guests.

The theme started from the British and English flags given to me by my in laws when they came here for a visit.I decided to come up with the theme UNION OF PHILIPPINE and BRITISH FLAGS.I sat down with my friend Michelle for the catering services and told her what I wish to see in the baptism. The church reservation in PHILAM- Sta.Rita De Cascia was not confirmed not until one week before the celebration.I even had to volunteer getting my own priests because they cannot find one.Luckily, one of the ninangs, Ms.Joan FLores, with her kind heart referred me to Fr.Larry, assistant Parish priest of Sto.Domingo Q.C.I preferred Sta.Rita because I really wanted to do the baptism there because the clubhouse poolside area is just next to the church.
The photographers were courtesy of my niece Marie France, her boyfriend Nick Velarde and friend Ayhie, music from my good friend Jessie, sound system from En Masse Band, nail art from EM DIAZ and additional entertainment from my friends who are also singers and band vocalists such as Gina Francisco, Mhean Sarmiento and Sheryl Tuazon. One of my former students, now a great graphic designer, Chris Roxas also joined the jamming session. It was indeed a colorful event as POI dancer MicMic also my kumare spinned around the pool area to add more fun to the party together with her inaanak Janzen.
Over-all, I would say that the party is a big success because of the help and support from my friends, relatives and most especially to my one and only husband whom despite of cultural differences on how we hold baptism, gave me the freedom to do what I love doing in order to welcome my son to the CHRISTIAN WORLD.Indeed there is no boundary to where his mum and dad came from.I am proud to say that we united the colours of Philippine and British flags in this momentous baptism of our BRINOY, Isaac William Johnson.
